Knaresborough: Riverside Circular

Walk type: Circular

Distance: Short

Time (aprox): 5mins

Start/ End point: Conyngham Hall Car Park, Knaresborough, HG5 9AX

Points of Interest: The river Nidd, Knaresborough Bridge, Knaresborough.

This is a nice easy walk, along the River Nidd with plenty of opportunities for photography. It is all on footpaths, and their are clear signs along the way to help you should you get lost. Dogs can be off the lead for the majority of the walk. They must be on a lead whilst in the car park and walking along the main road. You can either begin your walk in the field at the far end of the pay and display car park or at the other side of the river, opposite Mother Shipton’s Cave.

Starting from opposite Mother Shipton’s Cave: Go through the gate and keep following signs for the River Circular Path. Dogs can be off the lead as soon as you go through the gate. The river should be on your right for most of the walk. Towards the end of the walk, you should see a field on your left. Stick to the main path until you come to a bridge. Cross over the bridge and turn right passing some ruins on your left. Keep following the path until you are back in the car park.

Starting from far end of the Pay and display Car park: Follow the path, passing some ruins on your right until you come to a footbridge. Cross the bridge and continue to follow the main path, sign posted for the river circular. The river should be on your left for the majority of the walk. Keep following the path until you come to the main bridge into Knareborough (or when you have run out of river) Go through the gate and cross over the bridge. (dogs must be on a lead from this point on) The Car park is the first turning on your left.

There are couple of slight hills along the way, but nothing to strenuous. The field is a great for playing fetch, and for any dog wishing to play. The locals are all very friendly.
